Here's to 2012!

Well, 2011 was certainly an eventful year. I learnt alot about myself throughout the year, and did things I didn’t know I was capable of doing, that was mainly due to the encouragement of my Hubby. I learnt lots about my family, that wasn’t all good but most of all I was amazed with our friends, and those that really went the extra mile when we needed their love and support. Whilst I have no wish to re live the first six months of 2011 the later part of the year was simply amazing ♥

We had the best Wedding Day on July 2nd, the sun shone all day and we were surrounded by our family and closest friends it was followed by and incredible Honeymoon in Mexico, followed by a month of celebrating milestones and turning points in our friends lives including Weddings and Leaving Parties and then what seemed like the most unimaginable thing happened.. … Let me explain.

The last thing my gynaecologist said to me back in 2010 was “Miss Hull I must inform you it is unlikely that you will fall pregnant”. … Those words haunted me for what seemed like a life time.

So, it was to our amazement shortly after my last blog I found out that I was actually pregnant! I did 27 pregnancy tests, which meant we lived on beans on toast for a few weeks. .. literally! I had a doctors and a Midwife appointment and I had terrible morning sickness! But I still couldn’t get my head around it; I spent weeks in what felt like a daze. It seemed like the longest four weeks EVER before we went for our 12 week scan. I remember lying on the couch and feeling sick with nerves, I closed my eyes, too scared to open them and look at the screen that was right in front of me, I squinted and had a quick look, I looked up at Squidge who was smiling and welling up, I looked back at the screen and there it was. Until I saw our baby on screen, I couldn’t let myself believe that I was actually carrying our baby.

We have just returned from a weeks break in North Cornwall, probably our last before baby arrives. It was a wonderful New Year. We celebrated with my sister and her now ‘fiance’ on the beach. We had a fire, sparklers, lanterns, mulled wine, champagne, apple juice and hot jacket potatoes. It was by far my best New Year to date.  I don’t know if it was looking back over the year and all that had changed, being with my nearest and dearest, feeling the baby moving around inside me or what, but it just felt wonderful. The sea breeze and the light drizzle when the clock struck twelve felt fresher than ever.

Its outstanding the difference a year can make in peoples lives. So, whilst 2012 is going to bring about lots of change for the ‘Squidges’ I think it’s definitely safe to say were ready for it. .. well, if you ever can be!
